Job Description

Supporting the business requirements through provision of application servicesTo provide application support in production environments including diagnostic and cause analysis. Along with supporting and implementing the development releases for production environments. Acting as the operational technical expert for identified applications,sharing knowledge as appropriate and owning product roadmaps.What youll be doing

  • Liaising with Third party Vendors and escalating incidents as appropriate
  • Managing third party bug fixes and upgrade plans for externally supported applications
  • Triaging and managing incident and request tickets using effective ticket management practices
  • Diagnosing causes of incidents that are related to application services and implementing resolutions
  • Providing guidance, coordination, and support of business processes that use one or many applications or application services.
  • Acting as operational technical expert for identified applications, sharing knowledge as appropriate through intranet documentation and training sessions.
  • Liaising with other IT teams in support of applications maintenance and development activities.
  • Co-ordinating and assisting each line of business with opportunities for shared applications and common business efficiencies.
  • Supporting improvement initiatives involving business applications.
  • Aiding in the strategy for tactical and maintenance activities.
  • Taking responsibility for: time management; reporting and monitoring; risk management; issue management; quality assurance; and change management.
  • Supporting other application team members as appropriate for the implementation of application related activities.
  • Carrying out other tasks as agreed with the internal Application Support Manager and Team Leader.

  • Degree qualified and relevant professional qualifications and experience
  • Experience working within an IT Support team, providing technical support of applications and their environments. Some development experience would be beneficial.
  • Proven experience and technical knowledge of Windows server environments
  • Experience of working with a variety of software platforms and applications both on-prem and cloud-based
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment
  • Experience of managing vendor relationships and holding Service reviews
  • Knowledge and experience of using of relational databases, including standard database technologies such Oracle, MS SQL Server
  • Able to apply relevant industry and process standards to all tasks undertaken.
  • Able to understand and analyse code
  • Able to acquire an understanding of a problem or situation and develop an effective approach to investigation and resolution
  • You have a passion for customer experience and a commitment to delivering service excellence
  • You believe that how technology is used and experienced is just as important as the technology itself
Skills, experience & qualifications - Desirable
  • Experience of Sharepoint/Office 365
  • Familiar with application development tools (e.g., Visual Studio, Oracle Developer) and ability to read and understand programming code and run simple SQL queries. Familiar with methods and techniques for structured reviews.
  • Formal training in Service Management disciplines (e.g., ITIL)
  • Experience of working with Moodle and Turnitin is preferable
  • Familiar with php, ASP.NET and javascript technologies
