Job Description

Thisrewarding opportunity involves working with boys and girls aged 6 to 19 who exhibit mild, moderate, and severe autism, along with associated complex learning needs, challenging behaviours, and anxiety.Position: Teaching AssistantLocation: Chorley, at an Outstanding Specialist SchoolCommencement: Immediate startAbout the School:The independent specialist school caters to the educational requirements of children with varying levels of autism, complex learning needs, challenging behaviours, and associated anxiety. With a commitment to providing a nurturing and supportive environment,the school ensures every student receives tailored support to thrive academically and personally.Role and Responsibilities:As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students in their educational journey. Duties may include:

  • Assisting in the implementation of individual education plans
  • Providing one-on-one support to students with diverse needs
  • Supporting students in classroom activities and therapeutic interventions
  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a conducive learning environment
  • Implementing behavioural strategies and supporting students in managing challenging behaviours
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with individuals with autism or special educational needs
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and emotional growth of students
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability to cater to the varying needs of students
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks.
  • CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
