Job Description

Engineering Maintenance Manager for a growing manufacturing company. The role is based n Chorley.Client DetailsOur client is an expanding manufacturing company based in Chorley.DescriptionRole Purpose:To improve the operational performance of all site based assets by providing leadership to the Maintenance Engineering team in a safe and effective manner.To ensure compliance to relevant maintenance plans, statutory legislation and mandatory tasks.Reporting to the Head of Engineering.Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all shift, days based and apprentice Engineers on site operating in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Participates in the development of an effective best in class maintenance strategy.
  • Responsible for the organisation of direct reports and delivery of the maintenance plan in a safe, effective manner and to the required standard in order to achieve the required asset performance.
  • Ensure optimisation of all maintenance resources achieved through the setting of clear expectations, prioritisation of labour and tasks in line with the maintenance plan.
  • Leads the maintenance team to ensure consistent and high performance achieved through effective coaching and facilitation and providing regular feedback to shift team/individual.
  • Ensure motivation and discipline of the maintenance team.
  • Monitor the technical performance of the team, identify gaps in competence and responsible for technical skills improvement. Develop individual Engineering training needs analysis.
  • Identify areas of improvement by analysis of asset performance data and in conjunction with the Reliability Manager, develop suitable asset improvement plans.
  • Ensure all work is undertaken to statutory legislative requirements and company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Support the autonomous maintenance programme and responsible for the training of Operator Asset care.
  • Development of relevant engineering documentation inc. technical one point lessons, risk assessments, safe systems of work etc.
  • Production of standard and ad-hoc engineering reports and participation in daily operational reviews.
  • Responsible for departmental internal/external audits - quality, environmental, health & safety.
  • Manage on site contractors, issue of safe working permits etc.
  • Ensure 5S is embedded within the Engineering facilities.
  • Monitoring and mentoring of site engineering apprentices and liaison with external training providers.
  • Ensure effective communication on Engineering shift handovers.
  • ProfileSkills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Formal apprenticeship in either Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent.
  • HNC or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Proven experience and track record in a management/supervisory role.
  • Preferably, experience of working in a fast-moving continuous manufacturing process / environment
  • Proven knowledge and experience of modern maintenance best practice techniques i.e. TPM, FMECA, OAC, 5 whys, RCA, CBM etc.
  • Familiar with ISO 9001,14001,50001 systems.
