Job Description

Development ChemistLancashire£28,000 - £35,000Search Scientific are seeking a Polymer / Materials Chemist to join the development team of a leading manufacturer of technical materials & coatings. Based in Lancashire, this site is part of a global network that supplies materials to key infrastructure projects all over the world. ResponsibilitiesWorking alongside the R&D team. This role will be focused on the development of new products, improvement of existing formulations & processes and the research of new technologies. Key duties will include:

  • Manage development projects from concept to manufacture.
  • Review & identify opportunities to improve existing formulations
  • Lead the scale up of new products to full scale manufacture, working closely with other departments to conduct plant trials.
  • Develop testing methods, processes & standards to be used in QC for new products.
  • Identifying & and contributing to improvements to manufacturing processes.
  • Providing technical support to internal teams & external clients.
    • Working Hours08:30 - 17:00 (37.5 Hours) Monday - FridayRequirements
  • A degree or higher qualification in Chemistry, Polymer / Material Science or a relevant field.
  • Higher qualifications (masters / PhD) would be advantageous.
  • Proven experience in the development of Polymer products such as; thermoplastics, epoxies, coatings or adhesives.
  • Creative thinker, well organised and confident in managing multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present information clearly.
  • A valid UK passport & he flexibility to travel internationally on occasion.
