Job Description

Position Overview Based in Lyneham, Wiltshire we are looking for a General Labourto provide our general labouring and handyman commitments across a large site. The Post-holder can expect to be versatile and fulfil a broad number of physical tasks to facilitate day-to-day operations. The range of activities include re-location of furniture, stores and equipment between buildings on the site (and occasionally between local sites) and support to the Stores organisation.ResponsibilitiesTasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure timely and safe service delivery of heavy and light porterage tasks as directed.
  • Undertake general labour duties (such as construction of temporary structures, cleaning of signage, window frames and other areas/assets).
  • Act as a driver and/or escort to deliver and collect stores/freight as directed.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of vehicles.
  • Assist with Stores duties including stock checks.
  • Escort visitors/contractors when required.
  • Work with and support the Customer for authorised Public Events
  • Collection and disposal of waste
  • Actively promote a safe working culture and adhere to the Health and Safety procedures, processes and the law
  • Undertake other tasks as determined by the Interserve Line Manager including emerging requirements as the business need evolves. This could include inter-operable support and/or cover for other Interserve personnel such as Stores, Mail, Gymnasium, including regional support when required.
    • A secondary role is required as part of this post.
  • This role requires the employee to very occasionally provide sickness / absence cover at our OLTC site in Talybont on Usk in the Brecons, South Wales.
  • The site is an outdoor training centre providing various outdoor activities on the Brecon Beacons to training students.
  • You would be part of a small team primarily working in the stores department dispatching and receiving outdoor kit and equipment to the instructors and students, being responsible for the safe and correct storage, issue and checks of the mountain bikes and associated equipment and providing general stores and equipment support to the site and staff.
  • To assist the site staff / instructors in various general duties that support and deliver the required training output and programme to the site, staff and students to fulfil their ongoing military training phase.
  • Full initial training and familiarisation will be provided as well as regular refresher / shadow training.
  • Whilst working at OLTC, hotel accommodation, travel and expenses will be supplied.

  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Flexible approach to accommodate changing requirements and priorities
  • Good customer facing skills and the ability to develop close working relationships
  • Basic IT literacy
  • Experience of the MOD Supply Chain system would be an advantage.
