The greatest proportion of our 28,500 buildings and structures were constructed pre-1919 and these have high heritage value, with a rangeof uses - from offices to workshops, mansions such as Hardwick Hall to cottages. Our crafts people are an integral part of looking after our assets, using their skills to conserve and maintain our buildings and structures, and being part of creating a lastinglegacy.Your training will be based at a specialist college and be on a residential block release basis over the 27 month duration.Youll be based at our Specialist Craft Centre within the grounds of Hardwick Hall, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The Specialist Craft Centre at Hardwick produces masonry for the Midlands East of England Region along with it being a base for our work regionwide. The National Trust has many Centuries old buildings that have great historic, conservation and architectural significance. Each building is a one-off so the work you will undertake will be different for each one, but this will only add to your skillsas you will learn something from each job. Youll build up a wide range of Stonemasonry experience along with other skills such as mortar repairs and lime plastering to help deal with the very interesting challenges you will come across within your daily role,whether its making a stone window for Woolsthorpe Manor, or lime plastering at Kedleston HallYour apprenticeship is part of the National Trusts Hamish Ogston Foundation Heritage Crafts Apprenticeship programme which has been generously funded by the Hamish Ogston Foundation. What youll be doing Youll be working with your Trust Line Manager/ Mentor on tasks specific to your apprenticeship, as part of the wider team, and working outdoors in all weathers. Youll attend, and prepare for, monthly review meetings with your Provider Mentor and be accountablefor your progression concerning the Apprenticeship Standard. Youll be required to complete and upload relevant evidence to the appropriate e-portfolio system to document your progress and maintain timesheets for Off-the-Job training. Youll abide by the Trustsways of working and uphold our Values and Behaviours. Youll be required to complete mandatory e-learning courses and training and prepare for your End point Assessment.Youll attend 24 residential block weeks (all related expenses will be covered) throughoutthe duration of your apprenticeship to learn your trade.Please also read the complete role profile attached to this advert.
