Job Description

We are looking to appoint a flexible, committed, enthusiastic and highly skilled Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to deliver off-site lessons, such as Maths, English and PSHRE sessions to a caseload of students - this will include working on site or out in the community.This academy provide statutory education to children who are at risk of, or have been permanently excluded. Pupils that attend this academy have challenging and often complex needs, and exhibit behaviours that prevent them from attending a mainstream school.You will:

  • Inspire, motivate, and support pupils to reach their full potential by providing an alternate learning approach, working 1:1.
  • Deliver learning on site, in the community or in their homes.
  • Be a resilient character with high expectations and sense of humour.
  • Build positive relationships with young people, their families, and other external agencies.
  • Work with other team members, agencies and parents/ carers in a supportive and professional manger to best meet the needs of individual pupils.
  • Ensure that the students are physically seen and are safe and well.
  • Arrange your own diary which offers flexibility.
We require:
  • Having a good knowledge and experience of working with disaffected pupils in KS3 and KS4 in a school or other alternative setting.
  • Experience with young people that have challenging behaviours, social, emotional, and mental health needs (paid of voluntary role, such as Youth Work, Residential Support)
  • You to have daily access to transport with business use on your insurance as you may be required to transport pupils in your own car.
  • GCSE (or Equivalent) in Maths and English.
