Job Description

THE COMPANY:Brewster Partners have been exclusively retained by our client Cathelco (part of the Evac Group) to recruit the newly created position of Senior Operations Manager based at their easily accessible site in Chesterfield, North Derbyshire.Evac is the worlds leading provider of integrated water and waste management systems, as well as corrosion-protection systems, for the marine, offshore, and building industries.Cathelco are world leading manufacturers of equipment for ships and the offshore oil and gas industry and have a turnover around £25 million.The company are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Operations Manager with experience of managing and leading manufacturing operations within a technology, electronic or mechanical manufacturing environment.THE JOB:This exciting and newly created position with report directly into the Vice President based in Finland and form part of the Senior Steering Committee based in Chesterfield.The role will see the successful candidate manage the daily operations as well as the overall development of the site.Managing an operations team of around 35 people, the responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Leading, managing and developing the Operations including all local functions: manufacturing, production planning, purchasing, quality, logistics, warehousing.
  • Improving Operational Excellence and implementing lean methods improving the efficiency of the site
  • Spearheading the transformation of operations to a modern lean organisation and sharing information about best practices whilst achieving safe, reliable and efficient operations
  • Managing outsourcing and in-sourcing projects in the UK to achieve benefits and total cost savings from global perspective.
  • Consolidating business of preferred suppliers globally
  • Managing and developing performance and KPIs such as inventory, on-time delivery (OTD), supplier OTD, cost savings, quality, lead times, and productivity
  • Managing risk management and risk mitigation in operations and local supply chains
  • Regular and timely reporting to the VP, Supply Chain and Sourcing
  • Contributing to the overall global supply chain & sourcing development and follow and use related processes, tools and systems.
  • Working in close collaboration with the global organisation and with other Operations Managers
  • THE PERSON:This role is absolutely key to the future progress of the business and they are looking for a candidate who is motivated and excited about the prospect of developing operations within the business.You will need to have excellent leadership skills and a track record of developing performance.Youll need to be able to manage the local operations at the same time as keeping an eye on the bigger picture.Youll also have a blank slate in terms of the factory to be able to implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement project and upgrades.Specifically the company are looking for:
  • At least Bachelor level education in engineering or business, preferably from supply chain, manufacturing, production/technology areas.
  • Lean six sigma knowledge and change management skills
  • Practical experience with supply chain management and/or leading manufacturing, preferably in global technology group and from metal/electronics industry
  • Development orientation, Experience working in global organisation, excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong track record about leading transformation and managing development projects, in-sourcing projects and outsourcing projects
