Job Description

Overview: Health Safety and Environmental Advisor need to join a fast growing private and commercial property management company.Role Purpose:To support the Group HSE Manager as part of a team in the implementation of HSE matters relating to both people health and safety and supporting property and facilities to achieve building safety within the portfolio of businesses and properties across theGroup. To understand the external BSI certification processes where relevant to the business units across Group.Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities:Undertake HSE duties to promote a safe and healthy working environment and ensure environmental standards are met across the group including carrying out advisory visits and audits at various sites across the UK with some overnight stays..

  • Assist in the development of Group HSE processes and procedures and best practice initiatives.
  • Discuss and update Management systems in line with any external and legislative changes.
  • Ensuring that contractors employed provide the relevant information and operate safe systems of work prior to being awarded the contract including permit to work systems in line with current procedures.
  • Ad Hoc Monitoring of contractors.
  • Maintain ongoing Health & Safety and Environmental records to be uploaded onto estates management system and intranet.
  • Knowledge of SECR, ESOS, ESG and climate change initiatives would be advantageous.
  • Ability to organise and deliver training in various subjects as required for example DSE Assessor, Manual Handling. Carrying out remedial DSE desk assessments when required.
  • Source suitable external H&S training programmes as and when required
  • Carry out initial risk assessment and COSHH assessments and complete scheduled updates.
  • Monitor, develop and maintain records to track active monitoring, asbestos, legionally testing, fixed wiring testing, PAT etc by supporting Property and Facilities Team in line with current procedures.
  • Identify and discuss with the Team any improved methods of working which enhance quality and reduce costs to provide best value for money across the Group.
  • Carry out administration duties including internal and external communication, external compliance correspondence, updating and or producing schedules, spreadsheets, presentations as deemednecessary by the Group HSE Manager.
  • Investigate incidents reported and near misses and advise on corrective actions liaising with HR where necessary.
  • Involvement in Occupational Health surveillance and remedial visits relating to desk assessments/outstanding OH issues.
  • Developing self and others to achieve the relevant qualifications in health safety and environmental subjects.
  • To undertake other reasonable responsibilities and projects as instructed by their line manager.
  • Where applicable, to adhere to Company processes with regard to FCA compliance and Treating Customers Fairly
  • Where applicable, to ensure that GDPR and other regulatory requirements are met and own training completed.
Qualifications:Key Skills and Knowledge:
  • Experience of delivering training in a classroom and on a 1-2-1 basisAbility to work in a team and understand team dynamics.
  • Ability to work to a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to deal with high volumes of work and prioritise accordingly.
  • Professional and competent telephone manner
Essential Skills:
  • Gen cert or British Safety Council certified
  • Intermediate knowledge in Word, Excel, Powerpoint and other relevant packages with accurate typing skills, and a high level of grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Driving Licence
  • Strong proof reading and attention to detail skills
  • Good work ethic with energetic approach
  • Flexibility and commitment to completing the task in hand.
Desireable:
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or CDM qualifications, with knowledge of fire safety and environmental management.
