Job Description

Financial Controller | Barlborough | £50,000 - £60,000 + Benefits Macildowie are currently working with a market leading, growing business based in North Derbyshire. They are now seeking a high calibre Financial Controller with a strong operational and technical background to join their team. The role has full accountability for the business unit (£25m t/o - £300m group) P&L and Balance Sheet. There is a small team, 4 in total (includingthis role) so this role will be hands-on and involved in everything finance.So what is the role

  • Firstly, youll be managing just 3 team members and will take full responsibility for the Financial Controls and Processes as well as the balance sheet, P&L, Budgets/Forecasts and cash-flow for the group.
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the UK accounting team, ensuring that all processes are completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Developing the financial capability of the new SAP ERP system in the UK.
  • Embedding the UK accounting team into new ways of working following this period of change, develop and support them to manage the new systems and processes.
  • Producing monthly management accounts and producing monthly group reports.
  • Producing the year-end accounts to TB level and preparing the statutory disclosures, liaising with our auditors to produce the statutory accounts
  • Producing the monthly payroll, supervision of the hourly and pension scheme payroll, including administration of PAYE and pensions.
  • Business partnering with stakeholders across the business.
  • Produce other regular and ad hoc reports and analysis including standard costing exercises, business case preparation and critique, submission of fixed asset requests.
  • Responsible for the preparation and management of the UK Sales, HR, OPEX and Industrial cost budget.
  • Analyse, control and challenge overhead costs by department area and liaising with department budget holders.
  • Drive the improvement of processes and reports within the accounting team, with a focus on the forecasting and control of manufacturing costs.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the half year and year end consolidation package for submission to group.
  • Manage the local banking and insurance relationships and requirements.
  • Liaison and management of the energy procurement partner.
  • Manage all ad hoc returns such as ONS.
  • Manage the import/export records maintenance.
  • Support with fiscally related Sustainability KPI Group reporting.
So who are you
  • You will be fully qualified(ACA/ACCA/CIMA) and have experience in the Manufacturing sector, ideally in a complex environment with ever-changing raw material costs and market factors
  • Youll be used to working in a fast paced business and you will thrive on making decisions, improvements to both processes and team capabilities. Experience of developing and delivering through a finance team is essential
  • Youll love taking the initiative and at times, being autonomous. Youll be solutions focused and see opportunity rather than issues
  • Experience of working through difficult situations and improving business capability
  • Practical, very hands on experience of managing financial controls of a £multi-million business
  • Able to influence and deliver positive change in the organisation
  • Recent experience with SAP would be an advantage
