Job Description

The Financial Assurance Accountant will perform assurance activities across a range of financial processes and controls, both internal and within third party organizations. The role sits within the Financial Accounting and Controls team within Central Finance,enabling the new team member to also get involved with internal assurance activities such as balance sheet testing and controls testing within the firmClient DetailsRetail company working nationwide with great progression opportunities.Description

  • Perform assurance activities, including process walkthroughs and financial controls testing, over third parties. Similar to work performed for International Standard on Assurance Engagements (ISAE) 3402 engagements performed by professional services firms.
  • Monitor operation of controls via the control attestation tool and ensure adherence to best practice. Provide support and training to new and existing control owners.
  • Perform internal financial controls testing over processes, including those reliant on third party data, as well as performing internal risk assessments and process reviews.
  • Assist with projects to support the Financial Reporting Controls environment.
  • Work closely with Internal Audit colleagues in relation to third party assurance, with an opportunity to support IT General Controls testing and data analysis.
  • Report and present findings on assurance activities to key stakeholders and senior personnel.
  • Perform Balance Sheet testing and financial statement reviews, feeding back results to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist the wider Central Finance team with ad hoc analysis, problem solving and reconciliations.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with any specific legislative, regulatory, or contractual requirements, including all POL policies, such as; the key policies and procedures on Confidentiality, Conflict of Interest, Business Continuity, Data Protectionand Equal Opportunities
ProfileThe ideal candidate will be:
  • Fully qualified accountant with Consultative Committee of Accounting Bodies (CCAB) recognised qualification (e.g. ACA/ACCA), or equivalent
  • Knowledge and Experience required
  • Experience of testing financial controls and performing financial assurance activities (e.g. external audit or internal audit experience).
  • Experience, or interest, in IT General Controls testing and data analysis.
  • Understanding of financial statement risks and assertions.
  • Good understanding of finance systems (particularly SAP).
