Job Description

This is the opportunity to work with product specialists within an R&D team, to specify, design, develop, test and support application development for digital audio mixing products.As Application Software Engineer, you will be developing software that is typically responsible for providing the overall control and orchestration of the system, providing a sophisticated GUI, and interfacing to lower-level audio processing engines and interface devices.You will be;

  • Working with product specialists to define new features and functionality; using an acceptance-test driven approach.
  • Taking ownership of the development of a new feature or function and developing the code, working with other members of the team to manage integration, collaborate on problem-solving and provide mutual peer-review.
  • Working with product specialists during development to validate and refine specific aspects of a new feature: getting the look and feel and sound right.
  • Unit testing and shadow acceptance testing your own code before handing over to the product testing team for formal acceptance testing.
  • Working with product support specialists to diagnose bug reports and developing resolutions.
  • You’ll mainly be working with Delphi and Object Pascal so if you’ve come from a background in C++ and have a positive attitude to using multiple languages then you’ll be a great fit.You’ll need to be adaptable, bring new ideas and take the initiative on projects.We’d love you to have a degree in Computer Science, Engineering or another subject with a high mathematical and software development component; or if not be able to demonstrate a corresponding level of understanding and expertise gained through an alternative life-path.Experience & Knowledge Required
  • Able to take requirements through to high-quality code and supporting documentation through a systematic process of design, coding and test
  • Proficient in object-oriented design and development
  • Proficient in at least one object-oriented language
  • Proficient in at least one GUI framework
  • Able to explain and discuss complex subjects effectively through excellent verbal and written communication skills (our working language is English)
  • Able to work effectively in a team, sharing ideas, problem-solving as a group and providing and accepting constructive peer review
  • Able to produce high-quality software to a deadline by working with colleagues to manage scope and dependencies effectively
  • Able to plan and manage own time and priorities effectively on a day-to-day basis within a wider team workflow and set of objectives and milestones
  • Mathematically fluent
  • Although not a requirement, if you have an interest in audio then this could be a fantastic opportunity to work in the audio industry.Benefits You’ll Receive
  • Salary: up to £35,000
  • 40 hours/week
  • Pension - Non-contributory 5% of salary with a minimum of 3% contributory from you
  • Holidays are 22 days p.a. plus bank holidays increasing 1 per year for every 5 years’ service, and then capped at 25 p.a. max.
  • Death in Service 4 x basic salary
  • PHI (permanent health insurance) for up to 75% of salary and pension for up to 5 years
