Job Description

Please note this is a fixed term contract for 12 months, starting in January. The role is part time for 22.2 hours (3 days) per week. Therefore the pro rata salary will be up to £11,597 per annum.The Travel Training Service Support Officer is critical in ensuring young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and/or disabilities are given the opportunity to learn how to travel independently on public transport to access education, employment or training. It is vital that young people and adults can access education and employment opportunities to maximise their future potential and reduce dependencies.Delivering essential support functions are the key aspect of the role and will ensure Travel Trainers can deliver one to one training effectively and efficiently.Service/Functional Accountabilities

  • Act as a point of contact for customer enquiries and applications into the Travel Training service across Essex and other authorities.
  • Responsible for inputting applications into Capita One, ensuring timely entry, liaising with the EIBS team where necessary and resolving any minor system issues.
  • Maintain central records on staff training, including health and safety checks, eDBS service, equipment, evaluation or equivalent to ensure all data is accurate and current.
  • Deliver reports, generated from Capita One, to assist managers in decision making and monitoring service delivery.
  • Responsible for co-ordinating stock levels, creating orders to ensure efficient distribution.
  • Responsible for booking, arranging and attending courses and team meetings across the service, taking and distributing minutes.
  • Contribute to delivering cost efficiencies against ECC contracted transport and social care spend, by processing requests in support of Travel Training Managers.
  • Knowledge, skills, experience
  • Educated to RQF Level 3 (A level/NVQ) within a relevant sector, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of bus and train services and associated issues for individuals with SEN.
  • Experience of working within a SEN or Adult Social Care setting directly with clients would be desirable, as is a knowledge and understanding of Independent Travel Training.
  • Excellent IT skills (including Microsoft Office) are essential.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage with a wide range of audiences.
  • Experience of supporting remote colleagues in an effective manner is critical, with good attention to detail.
