Job Description

Please note these are full time, fixed term roles providing maternity cover from January 2021 to October 2021. Essex County Councils Corporate Strategy Team is looking for two people to join the team as Senior Strategy Advisers.The goal of the Corporate Strategy Team is to help the Council work in a more joined up and strategic way to achieve better outcomes for our residents. This is an exciting and challenging time for policy and strategy making, with local authorities across the country seeking to reshape the way we work to meet both the shorter and longer term challenges posed by the pandemic and other big change drivers such as climate change.Successful candidates may be deployed either as Cabinet advisers or as Policy advisers within the team.Cabinet advisers work directly with elected Cabinet Members, supporting them in leading their portfolios by providing policy advice; managing the interface between Cabinet Members and senior officers and external stakeholders; and helping Cabinet Members to efficiently take forward decisions through the governance process.Policy advisers lead on developing policy and strategy for the organisation working with the relevant functions and services. Examples of work led by the team include the Councils Organisation Strategy, the Essex Health and Wellbeing Strategy and the Children and Young Peoples Partnership Plan.The skills we are particularly looking for in successful applicants are:
