Job Description

We are looking for a Product Design Engineer / Mechanical Engineer to join a small and dynamic company developing an array of innovative high-volume handheld products for the construction industry. The company is growing rapidly resulting in many opportunities for personal career development in addition to a wide variety of new projects to work on.The successful candidate for the Mechanical Design Engineer position will have a strong 3D CAD knowledge using Solidworks, Creo, AutoCAD, Inventor etc. and have a design led approach in working on innovative products and developing a solid and efficient R&D process. The projects will require a creative approach to the challenges and the Mechanical Engineer must be able to deliver to agreed timescales and be accountable for their tasks.Job Requirements for Product Design Engineer / Mechanical Engineer:

  • Degree, HND/HNC or similar in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial or Product Design
  • A good understanding of Mechanical Design process, Design for Manufacture and Assembly including typical manufacturing processes, eg injection moulding, CNC machining, etc
  • Strong creative and technical abilities in many of the following areas: Concept generation; Engineering analysis and detail design; Prototyping, testing; Materials selection and specification; Design for high reliability.
  • Develop new packaging designs helping in the transition to sustainable plastic free packaging
  • An in-depth knowledge of Solidworks 3D CAD (or similar) including surface modelling and ideally, creating 3D printed models
  • Keyshot, rendering and 3D animation software expertise would be an advantage
  • Strong drive to rapidly absorb and develop further technical, project leadership skills
  • Attention to detail is essential
  • A team player but also able to work individually and unsupervised
