Principal Research ScientistChelmsfordPermanentWe are representing a leading defence organisation who are seeking an experienced Research Scientist to join their rapidly expanding Data Research group. You will be a proficient programmer (ideally in Python) with an Artificial Intelligence or neural net based Machine Learning background. You will work on a wide range of Data science research topics for customers across the defence, security and commercial sectors. There will also be opportunities to mix technical challenges with customer-facing and project support tasks, in addition to opportunities to forge strong links with Academic partners. Any experience of applying AI/ML in disciplines such as autonomy, tracking, or robotics for planning, control and navigation would be highly desirable as would any experience of applying Reinforcement learning. Of particular interest are candidates with experience with the application of Deep Reinforcement Learning or in the domains of (tracking, Autonomy, Robotics, Space situation awareness, Multi agent systems, Game theory, Edge processing or human/machine collaboration).Responsibilities: * Conduct novel research in given topic areas, often in partnership with leading UK Universities. * Develop prototypes and proof of concept demonstrators * Take ownership of tasks in projects and deliver to challenging standards. * Work effectively both on self-directed projects and in larger project teams. * Preparation of technical reports and technical proposals.
