Job Description

Housing Support WorkerSouth EssexMonday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm3 Month ContractWe are excited to offer an opportunity for a dedicated Housing Support Worker to join our dynamic team in South Essex. In this role, you will manage your own caseload of young individuals, guiding them through their transition from service entry to independence.Our service model is flexible, focusing on providing the right help at the right time, all grounded in a trauma-informed approach. At the core of our philosophy is the belief that "No decision about you without you!"Responsibilities:

  • Engage with referral agencies, local authority central access points, and voluntary sector organizations to generate referrals for the service.
  • Develop and implement effective support and safety plans for young people, referring to specialist agencies as needed.
  • Record, monitor, review, and update progressions/outcomes regularly in line with contract requirements.
  • Ensure properties are well-equipped, maintained, furnished, and cleaned to provide a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Maximize rent collection and submit successful housing and welfare benefit claims, taking proactive measures to minimize rent arrears.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Previous experience in a support worker role, particularly with young people aged 16-21, care leavers, and vulnerable young parents.
  • Knowledge of housing and property management processes.
  • Ability to engage with referral agencies and deliver effective support and safety plans.
  • Proven record of maximizing rent collection and managing welfare benefit claims.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt within the broad remit of the role.
