Job Description

Maths Teacher (SEMH) required for February 2021Your job role:This is a very different role from a mainstream maths teaching role. The school caters for children with additional needs - ASC, ADHD and SEMH. Do you want to work in this type of environmentThe school want to nurture and enable all children to learn in a safe, caring and excellent learning environment. Every child has individual needs and is unique and the ethos of the school reflects this. This role is based in North Manchester.To flourish in this type of environment you need to:

  • Be able to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
  • Establish a safe and stimulating environment for pupils, rooted in mutual respect
  • demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour which are expected of pupils
  • plan teaching to build on pupils capabilities and prior knowledge
  • Have an empathy for children with additional needs and be able to plan activities that nurture each child
  • Understanding of various barriers to learning and have strategies to overcome these
  • Be able to keep children on task and stimulated by the teaching and work set
  • Have a secure knowledge of mathematics from KS2-KS4 and be able to differentiate effectively for all abilities
  • Able to de escalate and have plenty of strategies to maintain a calm, learning environment
