Job Description

Elevation HR are currently recruiting for a Deputy HR Operations Manager for a leading distribution business based in West Yorkshire. Reporting into the HR Operations Manager they are looking for a strong HR Operations generalist to make a valued contributionto the business. The role will support the HR Operations Manager who is accountable for c1200 heads across Transport and Depots which includes 9 sites across the UK. The role will foster a culture of service excellence within Operations. This is a key influencing role which is crucial to the development, deployment and implementation of HR processes, policies and procedures. Principal accountabilities in the role will include:

  • Deliver and implement the appropriate HR strategies and policies to proactively support the business objectives
  • Drive the implementation of major change projects, processes and programmes across the business area
  • Managing a team of HR Advisors and HR Change project managers
  • Maintain good relationships with Union Reps to ensure that the recognition agreements are embraced and develop the relationship between unions and the Company
  • Support on all aspects of talent, focus on headcount and workforce planning as well working closely with managers to implement strategies to ensure new hires are ‘best fit’ to maximise company-wide capability
  • Operating within a complex, cross-discipline environment, managing multiple and fluctuating project accountabilities
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
  • Hold an MCIPD Qualification, preferably CIPD Level 7 - Chartered Member, or equivalent, demonstrable experience
  • A minimum of 1 years HR Managers experience within a fast paced manufacturing/distribution and unionised environment
  • Demonstrable experience of managing large change projects
  • A sound knowledge of UK employment legislation and proven experience of applying updated legislation to a variety of HR situations
  • Demonstrate a positive, collaborative and ‘can do’ attitude to the business demonstrating a good level of general commercial business awareness
  • Proven experience of working with a trade unions
  • Able to demonstrate a strong ability to build relationships with key stakeholders, including Directors
  • Ability to organise and prioritise a heavy and diverse workload
  • The ability to travel as and when needed (typically 2 days a week)
