Job Description

The Test Manager will have responsibility for product testing at the EU test lab in South Wales. This includes leading the test engineering team to plan, implement and complete all test programs, in line with the technical requirements set by the EuropeanEngineering team.Client DetailsMy client are an established Global Automotive Manufacturing business.DescriptionAs the Test Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Responsible for health and safety (HSE) and safe working practices within the Test Laboratory.
  • The planning, scheduling and execution of all product test programs, in line with the technical requirements set by the engineering dept.
  • The development of test methods and test procedures for product development.
  • The design and development of test rigs, based on latest technologies and the requirements set by the EU product development teams.
  • Technical authority for the development of test rigs, including the correlation of test rigs in global test labs, external testing sources and joint venture facilities.
  • The management of test lab expense budgets in line with annual requirements.
  • The management of test lab capital budgets in line with annual global requirements and the development of new test facilities as required for future regulation development.
  • Responsible for the management and integrity of test data, including setting direction and overseeing measurement system processes.
  • The management of the test engineering team, including skills development, recruitment, career development and succession planning, based on the evolving requirements for Global product testing.
  • Continuous improvement, including the continuous development of testing processes, procedures and methods to facilitate high testing efficiency and throughput.
ProfileAs the Test Manager you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronic engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience in automotive product testing.
  • Track record of managing an engineering team.
  • Understand legislative regulations as required for product testing.
  • Understand vehicle performance characteristics.
  • Understand materials fatigue theory, including the principles of reliability and confidence.
  • Be familiar with latest test engineering methods, technologies and software application tools.
  • Experience of health and safety requirements in the product test environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Be able to work effectively within a multi-discipline team environment.
