As part of the Ministry of Justices new probation system, Forward Trust deliversservices within the Commissioned Rehabilitative Services (CRS), working to help individuals break the cycle of reoffending.Role Overview – Team Leader:We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Team Leader to join our Camau Accommodation service, commissioned by Her Majestys Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS)and is delivered across Gwent, South Wales and Dyfed Powys. This role involves working remotelyas part of a flexible, multi-disciplinary team, covering the South Wales Accommodation Services under the Probation CRS. The Camau team aims to address barriers to sustaining settled accommodation for those serving community sentences, or custodial sentencesless than 6 months, to retain accommodation for those at risk of losing it and to obtain accommodation for those who are experiencing homelessness.Responsibilities – Team Leader:
  • Work alongside Housing Intervention Workers (HIW) to assess and develop outcome-focused action plans based on referrals received from the Responsible Officer (Probation Practitioner).
  • Provide advocacy, referral support, system navigation, and dedicated interventions to build independent living skills.
  • Deliver services through face-to-face contact, telephone, and virtual support, including both one-on-one and group settings within the Probation and Prison systems.
  • Line manage a team of Housing Intervention Workers, providing coaching and support to ensure effective housing-focused interventions for adult male prison leavers and individuals on community orders.
  • Coach, mentor, and support direct reports, allocating caseloads, managing complex cases, and ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards.
  • Deliver on performance targets set by Forward Trust and Commissioners, ensuring data accuracy and submission deadlines are met.
  • Act as a senior representative and deputize for the Service Manager when needed, maintaining a positive relationship with stakeholders and collaborating with partner agencies.
  • Lead the partnership and engagement strategy for the area you cover, fostering cooperative working relationships with other agencies and probation staff.
  • Occasionally require flexibility in working hours, including evenings with prior notice, and attend head office for training as required.
Requirements – Team Leader:
  • Demonstrable experience in team management, performance, and development.
  • Genuine interest and experience in motivating, coaching, mentoring, and developing people.
  • Strong skills in key relationship management, both internally and externally.
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing formal procedures and policies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient project and time management abilities.
  • Familiarity with the issues facing service users in the criminal justice sector.
  • Knowledge and experience of the housing sector and its legislation.
  • Proven experience in managing high caseloads, conducting risk/comprehensive assessments, developing SMART action plans, and maintaining effective case records.
  • Flexible, solutions-focused leadership approach.
