Visitor and view numbers can be very high for our websites, especially during live sporting events.All of our services are hosted in the Cloud on AWS. Most of our products run on a LAMP/LEMP stack, and we are migrating some of these to serverless technologies such as Lambda, SNS and DynamoDB. We are also interested in the potential of emerging technologies, such as AI.Software Engineer - The Role:We’re looking for a confident and experienced Software Engineer who will thrive in an agency environment. You will have experience working to deadlines, juggling several projects simultaneously and will have seen several projects through to completion. You will be able to take a holistic view of a project, understanding that code is only complete once it’s pushed live.You will be adaptable to change and will know how to plan for all eventualities. At Sotic we deliver beyond the build and you will need to be committed to a project beyond launch – recognising the need for continuous improvement.COVID-19 and Working from HomeThroughout lockdown our employees have been working from home. Although this position is primarily office-based, whilst travel and working restrictions remain you will be temporarily required to work full-time from home. Please apply only if you are in a position to do so.Software Engineer – You:Skills and Experience- 4-5 years commercial experience developing software in either Python, GO or PHP (and have some exposure to the others)- Solid understanding of computing fundamentals (e.g. logic, data structures & algorithms, networks stack) along with strong software design skills, including OOP- Experience working on different types of projects such as API, web, serverless, data processing, etc- Confident discussing requirements with stakeholders- Proven experience of writing deliverable code- Experience working in an agile environmentDesirable Skills & Experience-Experience building for a cloud native environment-Experience building micro-service architectures-Experience building event-driven system-Secure coding practices-Experience working on the Linux command lineSotic is a flexible employer.
