Job Description

Tier 1 SOC Analyst Up to £25,000 + Benefits Cardiff, South WalesAn exciting opportunity has arisen within an award-winning Managed Service Provider (MSP), who specialise in Cyber Security, IT Networking and Infrastructure and are partnered with global leading vendors such as Microsoft, Cisco and Barracuda to name a few!Due to expansion within the organization, our client is looking to employ a Tier 1 SOC Analyst to join their Security Operations Centre department. As a SOC Analyst, you will be assessing security systems, identifying and patching vulnerabilities and improvingoverall cyber resilience across the company.Previous experience in this role is not essential, as full training and support will be provided, however applicants will need to possess a real passion for IT and cyber security and degree qualified in an IT related field or CompTIA Security + certification.As a SOC Analyst, you will be responsible for:

  • Logging incidents/faults and prioritising tasks
  • Reporting incidents and dealing with incident response in line with SLAs
  • Escalating incidents to appropriate teams when required
  • Using SIEM and UEBA tools to track and analyse any potential cyber threats
  • Performing security and risk analysis to pinpoint vulnerabilities
  • Presenting improvement strategies to clients to improve company security
  • Updating security systems regularly to avoid any potential cyberattacks
  • Performing security audits
To apply, the SOC Analyst will ideally have the following:
  • Previous experience working in a 1st/2nd line support role is preferable
  • Knowledge of computer networks, operating systems, software, hardware and cyber security technologies such as network and application firewalls, host intrusion prevention and anti-virus
  • Knowledge of SIEM (Security Information and Event Management)
  • The ability to interpret technical data to non-technical staff
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The ability to work well individually with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team
  • Full UK driving license with access to own vehicle
