Job Description

Senior SQL Developer Cardiff (Central) Salary: up to £50,000 pa + benefitsPermanent Contract Fast growing Financial Services provider in Central Cardiff have a requirement for a Senior SQL Developer to join their MI team.The purpose of the role will be to provide the oversight and design of SQL based solutions along with mentoring and coaching other team members, when required, to help ensure that the business intelligence architecture and standards are achieved.You will be responsible for the extract, transform and load of data from source systems into the Data Warehouse Platform and therefore will have strong knowledge in Data Visualisation tooling such as Tableau / PowerBI / Oracle BI Publisher etcKey Duties:

  • Provide development on Business Intelligence, BI Publisher, Data Warehouse and Dashboard presentation systems as well as providing higher level support and be actively involved in reporting systems.
  • Advanced SQL and PL/SQL development and high performance tuning for a range of requirements including data extracts/loads and complex inquiry and update logic.
  • Documenting and maintaining a core document of any data / table / index information to allow for greater data governance.
  • Support, administrate, maintain, manage and monitor OLTP system processes, system functionality and batch processes.
  • Produce standard reporting and business intelligence solutions for use by key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Lead the development of new solutions on projects when required
  • Work closely with the Data Architect in order to map existing entities to the overall Data Model
  • Become the "trusted advisor" for data development
  • Mentor and guide other team members and provide a point of escalation for data related queries
    • Skills / experience:
  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent (e.g. Management of Information Systems, Computer Studies )
  • Strong background within a similar SQL Developer role with knowledge of Oracle SQL / PostgreSQL / MS SQL / etc.
  • Experience of development of data warehouse platforms
  • Programming experience and proficient with PL/SQL and SQL based queries and ETL technologies.
  • Strong skills with OLTP database environments as well as business intelligence and data warehousing design principles and complex database concepts.
  • Able to easily recognises system deficiencies and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent systems analytical skills to transform innovative and creative solutions into functional systems.
  • Good understanding of software security and application performance best practices.
  • Communication skills and the ability to present complex concepts in a simple logical manner, both technical and business terms.
  • Works well under pressure and to deadlines and can use own initiative
  • Flexible to change, motivated and enthusiastic.
