Rostella provides these services to its sister company Hedgehog which is a Gibraltar based car insurance company.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESUsing leading and innovative methodologies to inform pricing decisions, and to enhance the customer experience.The jobholder will:

• Develop and maintain statistical models to analyse pricing performance and total profitability.
• Recommend rating action and changes to pricing structures based on detailed reviews of competitive position, customer behaviour, claims performance and profitability.
• Design and build optimisation routines for pricing new business and renewals
• Evaluate the potential impact of new data sources on performance and manage the integration into pricing models.
• Establish and evaluate tests to assess the relative performance of competing pricing structures.
• Conduct regular reviews of classifications used in pricing and underwriting.
• Analyse and monitor competitor pricing activity
• Peer review models and proposals created within the team
• Contribute to Pricing Meeting and Underwriting Committee reports.
• Provide support to the Head of Underwriting on projects.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONTechnical:

• Demonstrated ability to analyse data, employ statistical models and use machine learning techniques to support decision-making.
• Able to identify, investigate and explain data patterns and trends.
• Demonstrated ability to use a range of analytical software and tools (eg R, SAS, Emblem, Radar).

Verbal:

• Excellent communicator able to convey complex results to technical and non-technical staff.
• Strong report-writing skills.

Work Related:

• 4+ years insurance personal lines pricing experience, preferably motor.

Human Relationships:

• Able to mentor more junior members of the team.

Essential Competencies:

• Creative approach to problem solving. Able to identify, investigate and explain data trends.
• Able to identify and understand stakeholder concerns and propose actions to address them.
• Able to use own initiative and progress work independently, delivering within agreed timescales.
• Detailed understanding of regulation in respect of motor insurance pricing.
• Good skills, knowledge and expertise relating to design, approval, marketing and management of products through their lifecycle.

Essential Qualifications:

• Educated to at least degree level (or equivalent) in a mathematical/scientific subject.
