Job title: Senior Hardware Engineer with Software SkillsLocation: Cardiff Acorn is working in a recruitment partnership with a leading electronics company based in Cardiff that design and manufacture electronic devices to assist people with disabilities to drive.We are looking for a self-motivated, imaginative and experienced Hardware Engineer with software skills to join their existing Cardiff-based team. The role includes working with the Technical Director investigating new technologies for future products, and therefore an appreciation of full design life cycles from conception to production is essential. You should be familiar with EMC testing (Electromagnetic Compatibility) to ensure compliance with applicable standards, and have mechanical familiarity (mechanical constraints of electronics design such as thermal, shock/vibration etc.)As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you will:* Design and develop electronic hardware (analogue and digital PCB design)* Support and refine existing product code and develop structures code for new systems.* Design and develop in-house test equipment * Be involved in the testing of new solutions on vehicles. Essential requirements:* 2:1 or first class degree in a relevant subject.* Highly proficient in different programming languages including real time embedded C for ST ARM processors (including uVision IDE). * Experience in analogue/digital design, and use of different design techniques, CAD tools, 3D printing etc. * Ability to debug complex problems, and manage the entire development process of electronic devices, from concept through to production* Experience working in the automotive industry or a keen interest in vehiclesDesirable Requirements:* Knowledge of LINbus and CANbus technology Benefits: * Excellent salary: 45K-64K depending on experience. * 25 days annual holiday + bank holidays. * Opportunity to join a great team in brand new luxury Cardiff offices. * A rewarding job!
