We are looking for a well-motivated, enthusiastic HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist to join our team as a Senior Biomedical Scientist within the Porphyria/Metabolic Services and to act as the departmental health and safety leadThis role will be based at the UHW site and has responsibility for the Porphyria and other services within the metabolic area, working in conjunction with other section Senior BMS to ensure continuity of the services. In addition the successful candidate will act as the departmental health and safety lead.The successful candidate will have responsibility for ensuring the Section works within a quality management framework in order to retain UKAS accreditation by adhering to ISO 15189 standards.The Porphyria service section processes approximately 2500-3000 requests per annum and provides national and international porphyria testing and monitoring for all types of porphyria.Medical Biochemistry is a large well-equipped department that hosts the All Wales Newborn Screening and Inherited Metabolic Disorder services laboratory which carries out a range of specialised work including HPLC, GCMS and tandem mass spectrometry.The department actively encourages participation in CPD to develop skills that will assist you in the pursuit of your career ambitions and further education may be supported where relevant.There are excellent sports, social and crèche facilities available on the University Hospital of Wales site.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.Closing date: 4th January 2021.For further details / informal visits contact:Name: Rachel HuntJob title: Lead Biomedical ScientistEmail address: rachel.hunt@wales.nhs.ukTelephone number:
