Job Description

Safeguarding Officer9 month maternity cover contractCardiff, South WalesUp to £23,520 Hoop Social Work are looking to recruit a Safeguarding Officer to join a national charity, to cover a 9 month maternity contract, offering an immediate start subject to satisfactory checks. This contract will offer 35 hours per week Monday-Friday. Thereis also an on-call element to this role whereby you will be on call 1 weekend in 3, 10am - 10pm.As Safeguarding Coordinator, you will manage the day to day safeguarding casework for the charity by reviewing Causes for Concern (CFC’s) as part of the charities Safeguarding and Welfare Service. You will process the duty to report forms which may includesignposting patients to 3rd sector agencies, and / or escalating referrals that require urgent action to Social Services for example. In addition you will oversee the quality of the CFCs, and ensure that all volunteers and staff are providing as much informationas possible at the initial point of escalation. You will work directly and report into the National Safeguarding Manager.What are we looking forIdeally, you will have previous experience within a safeguarding role, however, this is not essential. You must be a great communicator with strong people skills and able to deal with sensitive and complex issues with compassion. Candidates with backgroundsin case work / youth work / teaching / social work assistant or similar can be considered. In addition it would be great for the ideal candidate to be IT literate and great at processing information, confident as well as assertive as and when required.Benefits of this position:
