Reporting to the New Energy Director, the successful Project Developer will be responsible for identifying new opportunities to develop battery storage projects to ensure long-term growth plans.Project Developer - Renewable Energy and BESSPost Graduate: 1 - 2 years experienceReporting to the New Energy Director, the successful Project Developer will be responsible for identifying new opportunities to develop battery storage projects to ensure we meet our long-term growth plans. Once opportunities are identified you will be responsiblefor managing the full development of the projects from feasibility through to securing the land agreements and obtaining the planning consents. Once shovel ready, you will work closely with the Delivery team to discharge planning conditions and ensure theproject is built in accordance with all consents and licences.The projects are predominately large-Scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) schemes connected at 33KV, 132KV or directly to National Grid apparatus although may well develop into other Renewable technologies.The role of the Project Developer is very fast paced. You will have the ability to review detailed contractual documents and an understanding of the market, policy and regulatory environment impacting the renewable energy and battery storage sector.Responsibilities:Develop utility scale battery storage projects in the UK, covering the full development cycle from origination to ready to build status.Produce feasibility reports for each specific project to obtain formal approval from senior management before proceeding;Project manage the development of the pipeline, working closely with the delivery, technical and legal teams for support;Negotiate property agreements with landowner(s) to give us appropriate rights to develop our projects;Undertake planning feasibility studies, hold public consultations and work with our planning consultant to prepare, submit and monitor planning applications;Secure all consents necessary to build and operate our projectsQualifications and Skills required:Valid UK driving license as site visits and travel will be an essential part of the job role.Qualified to degree level in Engineering, Science, Planning or relevant related disciplinePost Graduate work experience 1 - 2 yearsThe role requires a deep understanding of both the technical (grid connection, site design, planning consent) and commercial dimensions (land leases, equipment procurement, financial model) of each project, and the project management skills to keep all of thesework streams moving as per plan, while understanding their inter-dependencies and acting quickly to help remove any roadblocks.The successful candidate will ideally have sufficient and relevant experience in the energy sector, excellent interpersonal skills and good attention to detail due to the necessary elements of analytic thinking.Candidate Requirements:Excellent stakeholder management, relationship building and communication skills with the ability to effectively liaise at all levels; from landowners, general public, local authorities, statutory bodies, contractors to senior managersSound knowledge of primary Health & Safety and Environmental legislationSound knowledge of legislation and Best Practice Guidance governing the planning, permitting and development of renewable energy projects in the UKStrong Commercial acumen and good understanding of full project lifetime economics, key design and financial model inputs and impact on project viability.The ability to maintain high levels of drive and energy, setting personally challenging targets coupled with a strong desire to deliver individual and team resultsPersistence in overcoming challenges and obstacles whilst being determined to ensure things happen and that all projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a satisfactory standard.Able to manage and priorities workload to tight deadlinesAbility to work independentlyThe BenefitsBasic annual salary £35k-£40k depending on experienceCompany Car or Car Allowance25 days annual leave plus bank holidaysHoliday purchase schemeCompany Pension schemeHealth CoverHow to applySend your CV to the contact details shown and shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an initial phone conversation with Novax Recruitment within 48 hours.
