Location: UHWCome and join our Trauma and Orthopaedic Family. We are a close knit team that is excited to welcome you. We all work well together to care for patients who have had a musculoskeletal injury or disease. Due to COVID 19 our departments have had to adapt to ongoing change and some wards now have a new location, some even a new mix of patients. We are an excellent team with a vast amount of knowledge and experience, with support systems in place ready to give you the best start to your nursing career.THE WARDSA5 North is a 19 bedded unit that cares for Spinal injured patients from across Wales. We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic nurses to join our team. If Spinal Injuries is an area you are interested in and you are seeking new challenges we would like to hear from you.A5 South is a 19 bedded unit that cares for Acute Trauma patients from across Wales, often with complex needs and a variety of fractures. If a fast paced, acute trauma setting interests you we want to hear from you.We are a friendly team, open to change and new ideas. We offer a proactive learning environment, with the opportunity to study a variety of modules, along with in-service training opportunities.This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated, enthusiastic registered nurse to support the team. Trauma patients are now being cared for at both the University Hospital of Wales (UHW), A5 North and South and University Hospital Llandough (UHL) West 1, West 3 and west 5. There are plans in place to recommence Elective Orthopaedic surgery in UHL in the near future. The Outpatient appointments for adult patients, for both Trauma and Elective care are held in Cardiff and Vale Orthopaedic Centre, UHL. All paediatric Trauma and Elective outpatient appointments are held in the Children’s Hospital in UHW.How we will Support and Help you Progress!When you join you will have a pathway tailored to your needs and wishes. You will be given four weeks of designated supernumerary status, allowing you the time to settle in to your new role. You will have named practice assessors and supervisors who will work with you to guide and help you achieve your goals. The NMPP will ensure you have the study days required to equip you with the specific clinical skills you need. The Practice Development Nurse (PDN) will see you regularly to give you the opportunity to chat openly and honestly about how you are settling it and will monitor your progress. The surgical Clinical Board have now joined up with medicine and are putting on a super day of training to consolidate your knowledge, give you the chance to speak to experts and Network.
