An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Welsh Regional Spinal Cord Injury and Rehabilitation Centre. We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated registered nurses to join the team. If you have excellent communication skills, are committed to caring, then this is an excellent opportunity for you.The Welsh Regional Spinal Cord Injury and Rehabilitation centre (WRSCIRC) aims to promote independence, maximize patients neurological recovery and adjustment to their injury. The Welsh Regional Spinal Cord Injury and Rehabilitation Centre in Rookwood Hospital is the only spinal rehabilitation centre in Wales. The unit has 26 beds and is supported by a large specialist MDT .On the current site there is a hydrotherapy pool, specialised physiotherapy gyms and occupational therapy areas. The hospital is surrounded by large grounds and is situated in the historic area of Llandaff village.The Welsh Regional Spinal Cord Injury and Rehabilitation centre (WRSCIRC) will be moving in the spring of 2021 to a new state of the art purpose build rehabilitation centre situated on the grounds of university hospital Llandough. This new centre will contain hydrotherapy pool, therapy areas and a specially designed Horatio’s garden area. Patient and staff will have access to some of the most up to date equipment and areas.As a band 5 staff nurse on the spinal unit, you will be part of a nursing team whose aim is to create a warm and friendly environment to care for spinal cord injury patients and their families.The staff on spinal unit are committed to continual professional development, updating of knowledge and skills, and the use of evidence based practice.The Neuroscience department at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board consists of Neurosurgical and Neurology wards at the University Hospital of Wales, and The Welsh Regional Spinal Unit and Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit at Rookwood Hospital.As a member of this department you are given the opportunity to rotate around all areas which allows the individual to build a scope of knowledge and skill.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.Closing Date: 14/12/2020For further details / informal visits contact:Sujith Mamachen (Joseph) -Charge Nursesujith.mamachen@wales.nhs.uk
