Job Description

Principal Public Health Nutritionist (Band 8a)37.5 hours per weekBase: CardiffWe have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Public Health Nutritionist to join our Health Improvement Division to support a range of programmes of work where nutrition and diet is a determinant. This is a senior role to provide specialist public health nutrition expertise at a national level for Public Health Wales working alongside a growing Nutrition and Obesity Prevention Team led by a Consultant in Public Health.You will apply your expertise in the following main areas:

  • Surveillance of the population nutritional status
  • Development of policy and strategy relating the nutrition
  • Developing and evaluating interventions to improve nutritional and diet related outcomes, including obesity
  • Assessing the impact of policy, strategy and programmes on population outcomes
  • Contributing to research and development
  • You will work closely to support Welsh Government in the development of food and nutrition related policy and strategy and with a range of partners both within and beyond Public Health Wales and across sectors including the independent and commercial sector.The post presents opportunities to work within a staff structure dedicated to systems-working and a multi-agency approaches to health improvement. We have a strong focus on evaluation and developing the evidence-base.
