Job Description

Youll have a highly responsive reactive media handling capability and proactively create, seed stories and develop content using digital and social media.Youll contribute to media plans developed by the Media and PR Officer and will help to deliver keyelements of the communications strategy.Client DetailsMy client is a leading institution of higher-education with an established marketing team who take ownership of defined central activity to promote target markets across various channels. A collaborative team with an account management approach who havea prime profile within the education sector across the whole of South Wales. Based in Cardiff.DescriptionAs a key member of the Media and Comms team youll be responsible for the following:

  • Assist the Media and PR Manager with delivering newsworthy, tailored, national and local media campaigns to increase awareness among our key stakeholders.
  • Act as the first point of contact for calls from the media, dealing with press enquiries, and finding experts for media comment.
  • Draft quality press releases within agreed protocols. Work closely with colleagues at all levels from across the institution to gather information and obtain sign-off.
  • Develop corporate content for dissemination via press releases, social media, websites and other distribution channels.
  • Liaise with staff across the board to identify potential news stories and important communications messages.
  • Work with senior colleagues to research and write material for the institutions corporate publications. This includes coordinating all content (inc. bilingual), proofreading and overseeing the quality of publications where appropriate.
  • Work with other PR and Media Officer on collaborative tasks
ProfileThe successful PR and Media Officer will have the following skills:
  • Experience in a comms/press/public relations orientated role
  • Demonstrable project management experience
  • Event Management Experience
  • Creative Writing/Journalism experience
  • Qualified to degree level in a related field
