Job Description

Leading Global Organisation require an Oracle Database Administrator to manage all aspects the installation, design, maintenance, security and performance of the Oracle database. You will ensure high levels of service availability in line with business service requirements and develop, implement, and oversee database policies and procedures. You will work with internal and external development teams and IT management on project enhancements.Client DetailsGlobal OrganisationDescriptionLeading Global Organisation require an Oracle Database Administrator to manage all aspects the installation, design, maintenance, security and performance of the Oracle database. You will ensure high levels of service availability in line with business service requirements and develop, implement, and oversee database policies and procedures. You will work with internal and external development teams and IT management on project enhancements.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide internal consultancy to IT development staff on Oracle database design, performance, capacity and security
  • Monitor system performance and report any issues which could have a potential negative impact on production database security and/or performance
  • Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues and implement database efficiency improvements to ensure that response times are acceptable and in line with Service Level Requirements
  • Install, upgrade and maintain Oracle database software which will include creating user accounts, cloning database systems, ensuring nightly backups are performed, applying software /security patches and ensuring that disaster recovery plans include instructions on how to recover database systems
  • Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and Service Delivery Managers to ensure that the infrastructure to support the organisations database requirements grows in line with business demands.
  • Create and maintain documentation, including database models, network infrastructure diagrams for all databases and to ensure that the Configuration Management Database is maintained
  • Design, implement and maintain policies and procedures for disaster recovery, data archiving, backup and recovery of Oracle products.
  • Provide out of hours support as agreed
  • Delegate to third party Oracle DBA support as and when required
  • Key skills / requirements:
  • Diploma or university degree in the field of computer science OR substantial DBA experience in a similar environment using Oracle database and Oracle e-business suite on a Unix operating system
  • Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) and/or any equivalent certification and experience with another database platform would be advantageous
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
  • Strong knowledge of Database Performance Tuning and troubleshooting, RMAN backup and recovery and Oracle DataGuard
  • Profile
