Job Description

Marine Structures Lead EngineerOffshore Renewables£50,000CardiffThe RoleOur client is looking for a Lead Engineer to join their offshore renewables team to design and develop systems for a large ongoing project. This is a vast role that involves project and contract management, and design for construction/O&M. Responsibilitiesinclude:

  • Project management of the development and construction of large floating structures,
  • Responsible for supervising subcontractors
  • Attending onshore/offshore trials
  • Managing the design of manufacturing process
  • Managing the design of O&M process
  • Technical liaison with various stakeholders
  • Preparation of requirements based on the relevant design codes, standards and legislation
  • Preparing documentation
  • Provide input relating to the design of structural systems
  • Technical analyses may be required using various methods and tools
  • Cost analysis
  • Technical input to risk analysis process.
The PersonEssential:
  • Experience in marine
  • Renewable energy industry experience
  • Degree in Structural/Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • 5 years+ project management experience
  • Excellent mechanical design skills
  • Good knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work under challenging timescales
  • Ability to communicate with stakeholders of all levels
  • Valid UK Driving Licence
Desirable:
  • Construction of large steel fabrications and assemblies
  • Experience of fatigue analysis
  • Knowledge of corrosion protection approaches
  • Knowledge of mooring system design
  • Ability to use CAE systems for structural analysis
  • Good experience in structural codes and standards
