Job Description

I am recruiting on behalf of a rapidly growing and changing housing association based in Cardiff. My client is looking for a Management Accountant to join their busy finance team as result of this change.The successful candidate will support the Finance Manager and be responsible for efficient and accurate preparation and presentation of financial records and management information. This will include the coordination of the monitoring of budgets throughoutthe organisation.Key Outputs of the role:

  • Produce information for Statutory Financial Statements and Interim Accounts for the benefit of the organisation’s Board of Management; the Regulator (Welsh Government), lenders and other stakeholders.
  • Timely and accurate reporting of monthly management accounts, investigating variances, correcting errors where necessary and providing explanations on departures from budget.
  • Produce monthly management information to budget holders highlighting variances against Budget and liaising in identification of causes. Produce monthly KPI’s for the organisation. Maintain records relating to loans and other financing, for scheduling ofloan interest and principal repayments, whilst observing adherence to loan covenants, and agreeing account balances.
  • Monitor all Balance Sheet reconciliations ensuring completion and adequate record keeping by all team members responsible.
  • Completing statutory returns for the Office of National Statistics, Welsh Government and Financial Conduct Authority.
  • Support the Finance Manager in developing business models for capital and revenue schemes
  • Contribute to the development of management information provided internally and externally.
  • Develop an ongoing understanding of the systems and procedures of the Finance Department, administering them in the absence of junior staff members.
  • Ensure that financial records are maintained in line with the organisation’s Financial Regulations and Standing Orders, and comply with current legislation.
  • Ensure that all work is in line with policies and procedures. Ensuring that all calculations and assumptions are linked to supporting workings and appropriate source of information.
  • Support and contribute to the organisation’s wider initiatives of improving customer care and efficiency.
  • Undertake such tasks for the Finance team in particular, and within the organisation in general, that are consistent with the objectives of the post, as directed by the Director of Finance/IT, the Finance Manager or other senior members of staff.
The successful candidate will ideally be AAT Qualified; however, the client will consider part qualified further studiers as well. You will possess excellent communication skills as well as good Excel skills and will ideally come from a 3rd sector / socialhousing sector background, but this is definitely not essential.What youll get:
