Job Description

I am recruiting on behalf of a successful SME in the Cardiff area. My client is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join their small and friendly team. The Management Accountant will provide a professional and timely accounting service in thesubmission of the monthly management accounts, as well as providing any other support to the Finance Controller and Finance team, as required.Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller , key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist the Financial Controller in maintaining the accounting records for the Group
  • Assist in the production of month end management accounts including analysis. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset schedule.
  • Daily processing of bank transactions and reconciliations.
  • Manage the debtors ledger with effective
  • Preparation and posting of monthly journals.
  • Produce quarterly VAT Returns - reconciling to the nominal ledger.
  • Manage and process the client and subcontractor applications and payment certificates.
  • Offering advice and support, building a good rapport.
  • Prepare weekly / monthly sales reports.
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets, year-end schedules
  • Assisting with the development of systems and controls, identifying opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiencies.
  • Offering advice and support, building a good rapport with other team members and external stakeholders.
  • Provide cover for other members of the team in their absence.
Experience/Qualifications
  • CIMA/ACCA part qualified, but good AAT and QBEs will be welcomed
  • At least 2+ years experience in an accounting function with relevant experience.
  • Experience in construction and knowledge of CIS would be beneficial.
  • The successfully candidate must have a fantastic work ethic and drive to work in a financial environment and be able to demonstrate their ambition to learn and develop.
  • A strong customer service focus, and the ability to build effective working relationships with staff and external stakeholders/suppliers.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise, with a proactive and hands on approach to meet deadlines.
  • Experience using Sage200 is beneficial.
  • Sound working knowledge of MS Windows-based software packages, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, electronic mail, and the internet.
  • Intermediate excel skills - Pivot tables and VLookups are essential.
This is a full time permanent position. The hours of work are Monday to Thursday 9 - 5pm with 30 mins for lunch.
