THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 9 MONTHS DUE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE.IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR THE SECONDMENT POSITION, YOU MUST OBTAIN PERMISSION FROM YOUR CURRENT LINE MANAGER PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR THIS POST. 1 X FULL TIME POST IS 9 MONTHS SECONDMENT AND 1 X POST IS FULL TIME PERMANENTAn exciting opportunity has arisen for two suitably qualified Lead Genetic Technologist to join the All Wales Medical Genomics Service working flexibly for 37.5 hours per week. One position is a permanent, full time post and the other is a 9 month secondment post, based at University Hospital Wales. If you are applying for secondment, please ensure that you gain permission from your line manager before applying for the post.The post holders will be managing a technical section within the AWMGS, the service has five technical sections covering Sample Reception and Extraction, Culturing, Fragment Sizing, PCR and Next Generation Sequencing.The All Wales Medical Genetics Service (AWMGS) provides a comprehensive clinical genetics and laboratory service clinical genetics services to the 3 million residents of Wales.AWMGS is a major stakeholder in the Welsh Government’s plan to create a sustainable, internationally-competitive environment for genetics and genomics. In July 2017 the launch and investment of monies to support the Genomics for Precision Medicine Strategy is looking to develop a service that is innovative, responsive and well-connected to the major genetics and genomics initiatives that are evolving worldwide.Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require part time or flexible working arrangements.The Directorate encourages personal development and you will be expected to take an active part in the appraisal process.
