Lead.NET DeveloperNational Operational Database Principal Software DeveloperSalary: £38,890 to £44,503Hours: 37.5hrs per weekPermanentLocation: Cardiff - Remote workingThe area we are recruiting within are a part of the organisation responsible for the design, development, delivery and service management of ICT systems in Wales. We play a key role in the delivery of safe, effective healthcare for patients across the whole of Wales. This means ensuring that whilst IT systems store information securely, they also allow the relevant information to be available to the right staff, in the right place, at the right time across Wales to support patient care.The organisation have embarked on a number of new development projects and these, together with our existing development portfolio, mean we are looking for software developers to help build key clinical information systems across Wales.We are looking to appoint a Principal Software Developer within the National Operational Database Team. You will lead a team of multi-disciplinary developers, writing SQL queries of various complexity to create stored procedures, functions and views. In this role you will optimise and tune existing queries to improve performance using specialist tools, as well as use all aspects of the .NET development stack, using the MVC framework and JQuery. As part of this role you will also:*Assist in driving the provision of a capable, reactive, motivated and delivery focused team. *Enforce governance of quality, rules, standards and processes ensuring solutions meet business needs. *Ensure the development process is conducted in a timely fashion. *Actively plan and track works as prioritised by the Senior Product Specialist.*Act as Scrum master using AGILE development methodology.*Gain a good understanding of the technical structure, domain and architecture of the systems the team are responsible for. *Mentor members of the tam and ensure distribution of knowledge.*Conduct one to ones and appraisals. What are we looking forYou will have made or be ready to make the transition from coding as a full-time role and be looking to build a career in technical management. You will be assisting and supporting the Senior Product Specialist in the successful delivery of software to agreed timescales by coordinating and driving the activity and efforts of the development team. You will take responsibility for leading a team and will be required to retain a good technical understanding of systems whilst remaining close to the solutions being developed. What specific skills do you need*Managing technical teams and working with Microsoft technologies.*Commercial RDBMS and SQL experience. Skills that would also be advantageous (however, not essential) are:*XML - particularly the use of XML with SQL Server.*Experience with HL7 v 2.x and FHIR messaging standards.*Familiarity and experience with SQL Server 2008 - 2019.*Normalisation techniques and ER-diagramming to design and create scalable, high-performance databases. *Commercial Microsoft .Net experience. *Experience of AGILE methodologies such as SCRUM.*Knowledge of High Availability solutions, such as Mirroring, Replication, Clustering and Always On (Availability Groups).*Good understanding of OOP, unit testing and software design patterns. *Understanding and implementing SOLID principles. *Inversion of Control containers (such as Unity).*Java / Linux / Apache Maven.*GitHub / Jekyll / Swagger.*Team Foundation Server.
