Job Description

A rapidly growing tax consultancy firm is currently seeking an experienced Tax Consultant to join their team. The role involves working in the Tax Claims Department, where you will be responsible for evaluating, approving and providing advice to our accountancyclients regarding claims made under Insurance Policies. The claims primarily relate to HMRC tax enquiries, PAYE and VAT compliance visits.The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience and expertise in preparing and submitting corporation and income tax returns, as well as some knowledge of PAYE and VAT gained from working with HMRC or in a practice setting. You must also possess excellentcommunication skills.Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Acting as the dedicated claims handling contact for a portfolio of accountancy firm clients.
  • Serving as the first point of contact for our accountancy clients and providing them with telephone advice on policy coverage and how to handle HMRC enquiries.
  • Reviewing and approving new claims, increased fee authorisations and payments submitted through our claims portal within agreed SLAs.
  • Evaluating fees incurred against the work required to deal with HMRCs enquiries and ensuring compliance with policy terms and conditions.
  • Understanding HMRCs approach to the enquiry and providing tactical advice to accountants.
  • Managing claims in a manner that safeguards the insurer, while maintaining and enhancing client relationships.
  • Drafting informative articles for our client information streams.
  • Collaborating with other claims handlers and tax/VAT consultancy teams.
  • Demonstrating tact, diplomacy and excellent oral and written communication skills, along with a positive attitude.
