Job Description

The Governing Body of Pontprennau Primary School are seeking to appoint an inspirational, enthusiastic and motivated leader who is fully committed to raising standards, sustaining whole school improvement and who will strive for excellence in our dynamic and growing school.Governors are seeking to appoint a Headteacher who:

  • Has proven success in a range of strategic roles including sustained whole school improvement.
  • Can demonstrate successful experience of managing change, encouraging innovation and meeting challenges successfully.
  • Can demonstrate successful experience of providing for pupils with additional learning needs.
  • Is committed to own self-improvement and the professional learning of others.
  • Is committed to promote the wellbeing of all members of the school community.
  • Is dynamic and enthusiastic with the vision and energy to create an effective culture of life-long learning and implement the new curriculum in Wales/a varied curriculum.
  • Is capable of managing financial and other resources.
  • Our two-form entry school first opened in September 2015, as part of Cardiff Councils 21st Century Schools Programme. Since then it has grown from Nursery and Reception and now includes Years 1 to 5. We are extremely fortunate to benefit from a new bespoke architectural design, which cleverly incorporated the existing Community Centre building with the new school build, to create a beautiful, purposeful learning environment, including a large hall, dance studio, a cookery room and a library as well as retaining community facing facilities for use outside school hours. We offer a breakfast and after school clubs with wrap-around care for Nursery.We serve the Pontprennau district and community in the east of Cardiff, lying between the village of Old St. Mellons and the A48 road to Newport. The area affords easy access to Cardiff, Newport and the M4 motorway and consists mainly of residential buildings. The school is situated to the northern edge of Pontprennau, near to the Community Church and the Medical Centre. There is a good range of facilities in the area, including green spaces and play parks for children. The school is fast becoming the centre of the community with strong support from our Friends of Pontprennau Primary School Association made up of parents and community members.Our mission is that:
