This is a newly created position with a very high profile Welsh Government funded Start Up organisationClient DetailsMy client is a very exciting Welsh start up organisation that is currently in construction phase with a go live date of 2024.This organisation will offer a worldwide best in class service and offering in their market.This organisation will put Wales on the map as the cutting edge provider in thier market.Currently operating with Public money, the organisation will, at some point, transition to being a commercially driven business.DescriptionAs a key part of the organisations Management Team, the Head of Corporate Governance & Funding will also act as the Company Secretary for the organisation.As the HOCG&F you will ensure effective corporate governance througout the organisation and that the organisation successfully bids for available sources of public funding and that public money is always managed appropriately.This includes compliance with relevant legislation and regulation and GDPR. In addition, will ensure the smooth operation of the Board, committees, and other governance structures.Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer the post holder will be responsible for helping the organisation to establish itself, define and adhere to its corporate governance processes, and develop both public and private capital funding sources (eg GrowthDeals, Levelling Up funding, bespoke grants for energy and biodiversity, etc).You will be used to bidding for and securing public money in the form of grants, loans and equity from a variety of different agencies.As one of the first officers of the start-up company, the HOCG&F will be involved in establishing its culture, vision and values and initial mobilisation. They will demonstrate an ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritise accordingly. Strong attention to detail and accuracy and to consistently produce a high standard and volume of work within agreed timescales.The role requires good leadership and influencing skills to work productively with the team by supporting them in embedding risk management and management of public/private funding best practice and developing a governance focused corporate culture, includingbehaviours and ways of working.The post holder must gain buy-in from colleagues for the critical role that governance, risk management and careful management of public/private funding can play in helping the company to deliver its business objectives.Were looking for an individual who understands the importance of governance being the perfect mixture of both people and processes, someone who is confident in disseminating governance and regulatory information to the Board and Executive Committee.Youll also be highly collaborative and work alongside the business to ensure continued high standards of governance are delivered.Youll be highly literate, financially astute and have the emotional intelligence to read a room, to be able to converse with Non-Executive Directors and Executive Directors as well as other key stakeholders, such as Government and Private Investors.Its essential that you are organised and have experience of working in a confidential environment and respect commercial sensitivities.You will have a detailed working knowledge of "Managing Welsh Public Money" and its implication and operational consequences.Job OfferThe opportunity to work for a very high profile, Start Up organisation as their 1st Head of Corporate Governance.A salary in the range of £60,00 - £65,000Hybrid working - mainly home based but can get to site in South Wales at short notice25 days annual leave + bank holidayslife insurancePension
