This role is back filling a recently promoted role in the teamClient DetailsMy client is a large Public Sector organisation based in CardiffDescriptionThis is a fantastic opportunity for a Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA Accountant to join this large Public Sector organisation as a Financial Accountant.This role is replacing a team member that was recently promoted to Finance manager and will be the Line Manager for this position.You will be the lead technical accounting expert in the organisation and ensure that it complies with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Governmental guidance (FReM and Treasury rules), internal policies as well as tax laws and other relevantlegislation.You will lead on the interim and statutory accounts production process ensuring adherence to relevant statutory requirements and deadlines. You will engage with other parts of Finance, Governance, Internal Audit, Welsh Government, HMRC, the banks, AuditWales.This role encompasses overseeing the interim and year end audits with Audit Wales ensuring all requests for information are fulfilled.Manage the organisations Fixed Asset Register ensuring compliance with capital accounting standards, policies and procedures. Oversee the annual verification and valuation exercise for all assets and ensure they stand up to external audit scrutiny.Lead on the development and maintenance of the organistions financial accounting policies and processes and the adherence to them, ensuring they reflect current standards.Oversee the reconciliation of all control accounts (to include Trial Balance accounts, VAT, payables and receivables, bank and payroll accounts) to ensure that robust controls are in place that will stand up to audit scrutiny.ProfileYou will have a recognised qualification ie ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA. Ideally degree educated or equivalent experience.You will have substantial relevant experience gained from working in a number of different organisations or in different roles within an organisation.You will have advanced technical/specialist knowledge in your field with the ability to think strategically.You will keep up to date on advances and changes within your field with the ability to interpret and apply updated knowledge as appropriate.You will have analytical skills enabling you to analyse and interpret a wide range of complex information.You will have good inter-personal skills and able to develop and maintain good relationships and networks.You will demonstrate good mentoring skillsJob OfferA salary in the range of £38,000 - £42,000Excellent holiday allowanceHybrid working - ability to work from Cardiff a few days a weekAMAZING pension contributions37 hours a week
