Job Description

Recruit 121 are working with a leading technology company based in Cardiff to recruit a driven Financial Accountant to support the continued growthThe overall purpose of the role is to assist the Financial Controller with the timely and accurate completion of internal management accounts and group reporting packs and compliance with statutory reporting requirements, including preparation for the annual company audit and ensuring that internal controls and processes operate correctly and effectively to allow this.Financial Accounting and Reporting Responsibilities

  • Preparation of internal monthly management accounts and completion of reporting packs to a high level of accuracy within deadlines (currently 5-6 working days)
  • Maintenance of revenue by customer and forecasting
  • Review of bank reconciliations
  • Review of fixed assets including depreciation, additions, disposals, recording and reconciliations to ensure that all asset movements are correctly recorded
  • Review of prepayments and accruals calculation, recording and posting
  • Preparation of control account reconciliations for each balance sheet nominal on a monthly basis with any differences and/or reconciling items investigated and resolved on a timely basis
  • Inter-company reconciliations are prepared on a monthly basis
  • Petty cash - custody and recording of petty cash transactions
  • Concur Expense - total management of outsourced company cash expenses and credit card expenditure system including dealing with all aspects of user status, authorisation of payment audits, policy updating, queries from users and managers, running of monthly reports, posting of monthly transactions, sufficient funds held in client account etc
  • Updating the cash flow on daily basis and monitoring of balances on a regular basis and liaising with FC & FD on any potential issues
  • Review of sales commission statements for each member of the Business Development team for final review by FD
  • Review of monthly payroll reports and investigation as appropriate
  • Review of supplier payment runs
  • Review of creditor ledger and resolving queried invoices
  • Review of hardware transactions - goods despatched correctly invoiced to customers, invoices received checking and authorisation, month stock checks carried out and recorded accurately, month end analysis and postings
  • Preparation for annual company audit
  • Preparation of VAT returns for review by the FC
  • Attendance at monthly operational meetings with department heads to discuss costs and future initiatives
  • Ad hoc customer contract/cost/profitability analysis
  • Set up and maintenance of the financial information in the operational system
  • Key Skills Required
  • Qualified accountant or qualified by experience
  • Up to date experience with financial reporting and audit
  • Experienced in using Excel for analytical and presentational purposes
  • "MS Navision / MS Business Central" experience desirable although not essential.
  • A proven team leader with experience in leading teams.
  • Interpersonal skills and experience to ensure effective liaison with the business. It is essential that any candidate should have the right attitude and communication skills, to deal with staff on a daily basis.
  • Possess the ability to think logically and clearly, able to make decisions and use their own judgement.
  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written especially in order to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to organise and prioritise their work in order to ensure that the F&A department meets the business needs in a timely manner.
  • An ability to handle pressure and be able to maintain a professional approach at all times. The person needs to possess the appropriate interpersonal skills to handle and diffuse any potential difficult situations.
  • The successful candidate will be flexible, willing to work appropriate additional hours to meet the needs of the business and the customer. It is anticipated that the successful applicant will possess an excellent attendance record.
