Job Description

Finance ManagerHourly rate up to £30.00 Per Hour + Holiday Pay Hybrid Working6 Months +A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen in the South Wales area to work for a highly regarded Public Sector body. This is an exciting opportunity and will offer the successful candidate a chance to manage and oversee the transition process of a publicsector body to a new corporate vehicle.The assignment is expected to last approximately 6 months, however for the successful candidate the role could be extended, or a fixed term contract may also be offered. The suitable candidate will be ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified with a strong commercial acumen.Working and reporting into the Head of Finance, Risk and Assurance you will be required to support with all aspects of the transition plan regarding finance matters, making big decisions centred around staffing requirements, accounting systems and financialreporting requirements.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing financial reports, budget monitoring and undertaking reconciliations
  • Systems implementation
  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts including comparison against budgets
  • Forecasting and detailed variance analysis
  • Preparation of the monthly Board pack for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with the new investment framework
  • Liaise with HM Treasury and the Welsh Government regarding processes and procedures
  • Recruitment and development of staff
  • Ensuring sound financial management information at all times
  • Constantly reviewing procedures and practices to ensure good Governance
  • KPI reporting
Person specification:
  • Private / Public Sector background highly beneficial
  • Previous Governance experience highly desirable
  • Experience of successful stakeholder management in complex change programmes
  • Ability to set priorities, manage workload and that of a wider team in delivering against a challenging timeline
  • Good working knowledge of core finance systems e.g. SAP and Oracle
The role would ideally suit a candidate who has previous experience within a public sector/private background having successfully created teams and implemented internal financial systems and processes. You must possess excellent all-round communication skills,have the ability to work to tight deadlines and have had exposure of working within a similar role. You will be required to work a 37-hour working week however, my client does offer flexible working. The role will be home-based, with 1 day a week in theirCity Centre Offices.
