Job Description

I am recruiting on behalf of a well-known Cardiff based 3rd sector organisation. My client is seeking a temporary Finance Clark to join its team in early December for a period of up to 3 months with a potential of being offered a future permanent contract.The successful candidate will be responsible for processing invoices and expenses as well as raising invoices on the Sales Ledger in accordance with the expense rules, authorisation, and purchasing/sales policies. The post holder will also be responsiblefor assisting with any customer or supplier issues that may arise as well as the reconciliation of supplier statements or income received.Main responsibilities will include -Purchase Ledger

  • Process Purchase ledger invoices, credit notes, expense and petty cash claims received ensuring all are in line with the organisation’s authorisation rules and the purchasing and expenditure policy.
  • Ensure that suppliers are paid in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • On receipt of supplier statements reconcile back to supplier record on Purchase Ledger and follow up on any variances.
  • Liaise with suppliers and the organisation’s staff on all related queries.
  • Monitor purchasing card spend and ensure claims have been completed and submitted correctly.
Sales Ledger
  • Action requests to raise sales ledger invoices and credit notes within service level agreements. Ensuring all have been correctly authorised.
  • Liaise with customers and the organisation’s staff on all related queries.
  • Ensure that debts are promptly collected and follow up on any outstanding debts by sending out chasing letters and making phone calls to the customers.
  • Assist with the recording of income, sorting into appropriate batching for banking and processing.
  • Assist with the investigation of income queries.

  • Well-developed ability to write and speak in a clear and understandable way to a range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Good numeracy skills with the ability to maintain accuracy and present financial data in a clear and accurate format.
  • Understanding of basic accounting concepts, including double entry book keeping and accruals accounting.
  • Good IT skills including use of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to maintain relationships with others, particularly at operational level both internally and externally, and achieve desired outcomes through these relationships.
  • Ability to organise and plan own work with a willingness to work flexibly in approach to work and /or work time requirements.
  • Ability to work within a team to maximise results for the organisation.
