Job Description

Fermentation ScientistOur client, within the biotechnology field, are seeking an experienced development professional to act as technical lead on important fermentation projects. You will be responsible for the excellent delivery of biologics and pharmaceutical products.This role could be suitable for a fermentation specialised graduate, who has a strong appreciation of industrial applications for bioprocessing.Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide technical support for all scientific principles relating to fermentation of microbial strains for recombinant protein production
  • Writing software programmes for lab and pilot scale fermenters
  • Technically lead projects dedicated to fermentation optimisation and continuous improvement
  • Technical transfer of processes
  • Troubleshooting fermentation issues during optimisation, scale-up and in manufacturing mode
  • Support development and improvement of downstream processing protocols for recombinant (fermented) enzymes
  • Interpreting data and reporting results, verbally and in writing, in an effective manner and in agreed timeline
    • Experience:
  • PhD or MSc minimum in a relevant biology subject
  • Scientific work experience is not essential but would be an advantage
  • Experience with troubleshooting microbial fermentation
  • Strong protein chemistry appreciation
  • Experience with programming related to fermentation software
  • Experience with downstream processing of recombinant proteins would be preferred
