Job Description

This UKs leading independent manufacturer are committed to sustainability with bold thinking, continuous improvements and unprecedented results. As part of new investment and strategic growth the company are now seeking to recruit a dynamic EngineeringManager to manage, lead and motivate the engineering team across the site to ensure maximum equipment efficiencies.Essentially, we are seeking a qualified Engineer who can standardize engineering practices for the site operation whilst managing engineers and providing technical solutions to technical problems.You will have the technical expertise and market leading knowledge of mechanical/electrical maintenance to deliver OEE (overall equipment efficiency) whilst maintaining budgetary control.Job Description

  • Initiate group engineering practises and provide credible solutions to engineering problems as they arise.
  • Working with multi skilled engineers for automated machinery and manual tools to ensure maximum equipment effectiveness.
  • Working with key stakeholders, deliver group maintenance strategy to ensure production equipment and assets are available when production is planned and manufacture quality compliant product every time.
  • Success is measured by continued improvement in machine uptime and performance (PE).
  • Demonstrating subject matter expertise, influence and lead the site to improve maintenance and engineering standards that deliver safe, sustainable productivity improvement.
  • The duties of the Engineering Manager are to understand current machine and asset performance using data analysis (where data doesnt exist, work with local stakeholders to improve to agreed company standard (PE)), introduce PPM schedules on all productionequipment and other assets identified through critical path analysis, with key stakeholders, develop maintenance team capability to use Condition Based Monitoring techniques that support PPM activity.
  • Identify critical spares requirements for all machines, build stock using data based approach in most cost effective way in line with group approach.
  • Lead specific improvement projects where required to achieve improvement and to Support introduction of new assets / equipment installations.
  • Ensure all engineering tasks are carried out in a safe and cost effective manner.
  • Develop thorough engineering procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure all statutory legal inspections are carried out as scheduled within the allotted time frame.
  • Recruit, train, develop, motivate and manage the engineering team.
  • Machine Performance (PE) - machine availability (uptime), machine performance (cycle time), machine quality (quality right first time).
  • Implementation of PPM and CBM routine and techniques.
  • Completion of Routine & Preventive Maintenance %.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Recognised Engineering qualification, essential HNC/HND Desirable degree. A minimum of an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an Engineering Related subject.
  • Experienced Engineering Manager within high volume FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Financial awareness and business acumen
  • Project management experience
  • Effective communication, influencing and networking skills
  • Effective planning, organizational & prioritization skills
  • Have proven fault finding experience in a busy manufacturing site.
  • Have experience of working with PLCs, AC and DC Motors and drives.
  • Have experience of working on Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems.
  • Have experience of working with mechanical power transfer systems e.g. drive belts, transfer chains and bearing systems.
  • The ability to interpret and amend technical mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
