Job Description

Major Learning Institution require an experienced statistician to support the analysis of student results data for forthcoming examination cycles in order to ensure fairness during the COVID pandemic. It will be an opportunity to work in a fast-moving environment using statistical techniques to solve a complex range of problems.Client DetailsMajor Learning InstitutionDescriptionMajor Learning Institution require an experienced statistician to support the analysis of student results data for forthcoming examination cycles in order to ensure fairness during the COVID pandemic. It will be an opportunity to work in a fast-moving environment using statistical techniques to solve a complex range of problems.The primary purpose of this role is to recommend and undertake recognised statistical tests to identify anomalies in the outcomes of the results in upcoming exams and beyond. Supporting the assessment division and wider teams you will utilize statistical methods and technology / visualization tools (Power BI dashboards) etc to undertake reviews of school outcomes.Job Duties:

  • Use statistical techniques to identify schools whose results look out of alignment with expectations based on comparison with previous performance and other factors
  • Contribute to and support other staff in reviewing assessment outcomes prior to issue of results through preparing (PowerBI) dashboards and data reports for senior management
  • Support staff in quality control and creating regression models for non-exam route
  • Evaluate the impact of checking processes
  • Provide analysis to key questions posed by assessment leadership team
  • Identify additional opportunities for reviewing statistical evidence.
    • Job Requirements:
  • Degree or higher in statistics or mathematics with experience of undertaking statistical analysis
  • Experience of using statistics to provide answers to complex questions
  • Expertise in a range of statistical methodologies with practical applications
  • To report and disseminate statistical methodology and analysis of results
  • The ability to develop and maintain good collaborative working relationships
  • Experience of undertaking regression analysis
  • Experience of using school data or assessment data
  • Experience of using statistical software, including R or Python
  • Experience of using data visualisation tools such as PowerBI
  • Ability to communicate statistical information to a non-expert audience
  • Ability to solve complex problems using knowledge of statistical techniques to defend and explain approaches to senior management
