Job Description

Our Client is looking to hire a Data Engineer.They believe that data is a differentiator. The way they gather, manage, and use their data will be a key contributor totheir success, and their Junior Data Engineer will be responsible for contributing to the technical delivery of their Data Services operations. You will source, develop and provide data to the business in line with architectural principles, and assist in developing,documenting and upholding their governance and architecture.About Them:They are a new entity within their Group with the objective of seeding, launching and scaling new businesses in areas of increasing societal importance. They want to recruit passionate businessbuilders who look at the world and see huge opportunities to change it.Responsibilities As the Data Engineer you will:
  • Data Gathering - you will engage with the wider data community to understand where data can be sourced, utilised and enriched. You will employ a variety of languages and tools (e.g. scripting languages) to marry systems together where necessary, ensuringthat data collection and provision is efficient and frictionless to improve customer engagement for their businesses.
  • Data Preparation - you will not only work with the Data Services team to source, prepare and provision data to the business, but also with business leads to help deploy, develop and mature their own data estates. You will use a variety of tools and languagesto source information, script pipelines and model data ready for advanced analytics and reporting.
  • Data Organisation & Protection - you will ensure compliance with all regulatory and best practice standards and work across the team to uphold digital security systems to protect this data. You will assist in developing, constructing, testing, and maintainingarchitectures and ensure that it meets the requirements of the business.
  • Analysis & Reporting - you will engage with the data to understand and improve reliability, quality, quantity, and usage. You will work with business leaders to assess the impact and success of campaigns, then seek and deliver improvements in data sourcingand selection to improve business outcomes.
  • Business Partnering - you will work and communicate effectively across multiple businesses with both business and data functions to deliver value, either working directly with businesses on their data stack or by provisioning scripts and enrichment datato them.
Requirements The successful candidate will ideally have:
  • Experience of sourcing data sets through purchase and partnerships
  • Experience working with relational data warehouses, ideally Snowflake
  • Experience building data ingestion pipelines - either ETL or streaming
  • Experience writing technical documentation
  • Ideally experience with BI tools such as Tableau or PowerBI
  • Potential experience in platform and user management, using Role Based Access Control (RBAC)

  • Knowledge of working in agile methodology
